Notes:  I don't write for this pair very often, so I don't think I got their voices right.  But I just couldn't help myself.

“I have rules.”

“Of course, you do.”

“First, you have to tell Andy.”

“About?”

"Me coming to work for Bartlet.”

"Must I?”

"Yes, and trust me when I say that I am doing you a favor by insisting on that one.”

"Forgive me if I don’t believe you.”

"Second, you shall never, ever, ever refer to Alex Thompson’s congressional campaign or anything that might have occurred during that period of time.”

"CJ, Andy knows…”

"Yes, Toby, I’m well aware of that.”

"Ok.  So… Never?”

"Well… Until I think it’s ok.”

"How will I know when it’s ok again?”

"You’ll know.”

Not bad. I think CJ's voice might be a bit of an amalgamation of CJ and Donna, but otherwise not terrible.

I really like the premise. :)

Actually, it was Toby's voice I was worried about, not CJ's. I really don't think CJ sounded like Donna at all... Well, at least, not the way I write Donna.

Hi Anonymous. Nothing's wrong with you! I probably should have been more clear. This takes place after Toby had come out to California to ask CJ to join Governor Bartlet's campaign. (This was shown during flashback during In the Shadow of Two Gunmen.) I also referenced the bit of fanwank floating around that Toby and CJ had had a fling when they were younger. Does the drabble make more sense now?

I got CJ straight off with the "I have rules line". Ok, I kind of cheated, I knew from the notes it wasn't Josh and Donna and CJ seemed the next most likely! Shame we never got more of CJ and Toby's background, this was an interesting tidbit. Me likey Quaggy.

Thanks Ally!! I'm glad you liked it. I'm always happy to get feedback from you! I have to say that CJ and Toby intrigues me. I don't have anything planned right now, but I have a feeling that this won't be the last time I revisit this pairing!
