Five Years!

So there was an attack on LJ on my 5th year anniversary. Seems a little ominous, don't you think?

Five years ago today, I posted my very first fic. Actually I posted three. (One of the few times I've ever posted multiple times in one day.) At first, this was nothing but a place where I dumped my West Wing fic, but little by little I started branching out into other fandoms (though I wasn't always successful) and experimented with other fani-sh forms of expression. I even started posting about my life off-line (though those posts are usually friend-locked at the very least). LJ is such a big part of my life now, it's hard to imagine what I would do without it. Twitter just isn't the same and you all know how I feel about Facebook.

So how do I celebrate?  Well, it seemed appropriate to go back to how this all began... with fic. I thought about offering DVD commentary or a fanwank Q&A, but I think new fic is the way to go. Lord knows, I'm a horribly slow writer, but I do seem to turn out 100 word drabbles pretty fast.  So...

In honor of the occasion, give me a fandom and a prompt (or two or three), and I'll give you a 100 word drabble in the next few days (or maybe weeks).

I don't mind branching out into a fandom I haven't written for yet, as long as I'm familiar with it. I actually enjoy trying something new. Though it's always nice to have the excuse to write West Wing too. Can't forget your roots!

Sigh. I haven't seen ANY of those, though Covert Affairs is at least on my radar because I like Christopher Gorham. (BTW, please tell me that they don't actually refer to her work cover as the "Smithsonian Museum" on the show!! That's worse than the Smithsonian Institute!!)

Let's see fandoms we might have in common... White Collar? Ugly Betty? Have you seen SciFi's Alice and fallen for Alice/Hatter yet? Well, there's always West Wing. And I probably could pull off Spock/Uhura, even though the movie has been languishing in my Netflix cue forever.

Hey, if the prompt leads you down the Katara/Zuko road, I don't mind. It's not the pairing that grabbed me when I watched (which still surprises me!) but I can appreciate K/Z when it's written well - so don't censor yourself on my account :)

Ohhh, love me some Quags drabbles.

That scene in Gilmore Girls when Luke set like 100 alarm clocks to wake up Loreli always made me laugh. Because when she goes downstairs and he switches her coffee and talks to the babies.. it's so sweet. Can I pretend it wasn't just a dream?

So what about something with the two of them... Perhaps a proposal or Lorelei telling Luke she's pregnant. I always pictured them with a baby.

I know. I did too. I don't know why ASP had to go and make things angsty and complicated. (Is it just me or did ever male character go bonkers by season 6?)

I never thought of it that way, but you're right. Though, I think the female characters went off the rails a bit too. Rory didn't strike me as the type of have an affair (even if it was Dean). Lorelei back with Rory's dad, and then not pushing Luke regarding the April thing... didn't make sense.

In some respects I think the show would have been better off with Seasons 6 or 7. If only there was a way to fix the end of Season 5.

The fix is easy. Just join me and pretending that Season 5 onward never happened! And we can just pretend that Dean was actually getting a divorce because he found out his wife had been cheating or something. (At the perfect wife act was just an act because she was feeling guilty.)

Though the season finale was kind of wonderful, if you just ignore how everyone got there. I like to pretend that Rory ran into Tristan on following Obama on the campaign trail and they eventually wound up together. (Because you know that Logan was just a Tristan wannabe.)
