A friend directed me to this the other day, Quaggy, and I've just re-read it for the third time. I love it! What a great idea! Telling it from Toby's p.o.v. works beautifully--I love the way you've captured his voice here--and the idea of Josh as a John Grisham/Joe Klein sort of writer is both hysterically funny and somehow weirdly plausible, if he were to get seriously burned out on politics, which I can imagine him doing if Russell had won the nomination and then lost to Vinick. It's got to be the happiest alternative to politics I've ever read for him, too. What fun! Thanks so much for writing this.

P.S. What were the AU stories that inspired it? I'd like to read them.
P.P.S. There were quite a few great lines here, but my favorites were Toby's comments on Josh's prose style, and his claim that he'd only read the books because "this hasn't been the first time I've been trapped in an airport." How perfectly Toby. . . .
