When you see this, post an excerpt from as many random works-in-progress stories as you like. Who knows? Maybe inspiration will burst forth and do something, um, inspiration-y.

Well,

zinke did it, so I guess that means I should too. Especially since I have a Great Big List of Doom that I'm trying to finish. This is also something of a three month status report. I'm not nearly as far along this list as I'd like to be.

So, for most I have a sentence or two, but with fics that are longer/closer to done, I've actually included full paragraphs. For those that are curious, the last time I did this meme, out of the 10 fic I gave snippets for, one I totally gave up on and four I actually finished and posted. The rest are on this list.

Yeah, it's still a ridiculous list, isn't in? I think part of my problem is that, in addition to all the real life distractions, I've been working on at least six of these fic at a time. Maybe if I just concentrate on one or two, I'll start completing more!

Note: Whew! I posted this fic right under the wire! Since I wrote this pre-Deathly Hallows, I wanted to post it before the book came out. I had my doubts I would make it! For someone who didn’t want to ever write Harry Potter fic, I sure went crazy when I finally broke down! This is the longest fic I’ve ever written! (And probably always will be!) The reason that I wrote this fic is because I’m not enamoured with the idea of Harry marrying Ginny and Ron marrying Hermione, making one big happy family. It’s too neat. (Not to mention I really don’t like Harry/Ginny or Ron/Hermione.) I like the idea that what binds the Trio together isn’t because they are all in laws. So, I decided to write a fic where they were all married to different people (which really was what I had hoped would happen in cannon) but still a strong family unit. To do that I had to marry Harry off to an OC because there wasn’t anybody in cannon I could really use. A big thank you to caz963, gatsbyfan and edgeriffic for the speedy beta! You guys are amazing!

ETA: For those that stumble across this fic later, JK Rowling originally said that Hermione's middle name was Jane, but, in Book 7, she changed it to "Jean". I'm not going to change my fic, since it was written before Book 7.

Warning: A MAJOR character death. Non-cannon pairings. (I'm not a fan of H/G & R/H.) Do not read if either upsets you.
Notes: Even though I swore I would never write Harry Potter fic, somehow I wound up writing TWO. I was planning on writing a nice fluffy fic about an alternate future from the ones the books seem to be heading towards, but this sad, angsty thing demanded to be written instead. When your muse hits you over the head, it's probably a good idea if you do something about it. I've still been working on the fluffy piece, which hopefully will be posted sometime before Friday. :-) A great big thank you to zommbie1 for all your help. (For one thing, Hagrid sounds a whole lot more like Hagrid thanks to you!) Thanks to caz963 , gatsbyfan and edgeriffic for the beta. And, finally, thank you to seri_scribble for the braid idea when I was searching for a "crazy Luna theory."

Something any good Keytus Kid already is well aware of. ;-) I won't get into HOW this fic exchange came to be, but just know that late one night (why do these things always happen late at night?) we agreed that we would have a bad fic exchange, of the Harry Potter variety, with both of us writing the most disturbing fic we could. And in keeping with the spirit of TRUE bad fic, we decided to post them unbeta'd. (And that loud noise you just heard was Caz screaming in horror.) For those of you who love Shakespeare... I'm sorry. You might want to close your eyes for this! ;-) Fans of A Midsummer Night's Dream might recognize the title.
