Thank you so much! :-) I was really going for a particular tone, so I'm very glad it came across. I'm the first to admit that I'm a sucker for a happy ending (which is why I could never really be able to write about Josh and Donna breaking up), but I also have a great appreciation for the bittersweet, which is what I was trying to capture.
This fic was somewhat a response to the Virtual Season 8 that was being written at the time. The thought had struck me that, no matter what you thought of the quality, that series didn't really hit the tone of the show right. Everything was too... pat. If West Wing had gone on for another season, there would have been complications and shades of gray and character development. So that's what I tried to write. I don't pretend that I achieved anything close to what the show would have been able to do, but I'm (still) pleased with the result.
