Also, I wanted to add that your comment "both too deeply in denal or too worried about their letting their feelings show" is really smart. It helps me realize WHY I have had the feeling it was unrealistic. I kept going to the part about "if they were in the bed they wouldn't be able to hold back" but it is more interesting to think about what it is that kept them from getting into the bed to begin with.
I've slept platonically two guy friends - not even any cuddling. I mean, just one time each. One was a good friend, who I only had a tiny crush on and he had no feelings for me. There were a lot of other people in the room too, sleeping on the floor, etc. The other, is a guy that I had/have a BIG crush on. It was a pretty big bed at our friend's house. I still can't believe I slept with him and I think he was in his boxers. I barely moved the whole night out of fear of doing something to give away my crush, since as far as I know he never had any interest in me.
