Yes, being able to relax is a BIG thing (and what this fic is built around!) I think your personal expirience illuminates what I was thinking perfectly. I do think Josh and Donna's relationship is a case of mutual unrequited love (oxymoron, isn't it?) and all the insequrity that comes with it. I don't think either has ever been secure that the other returned their feeling fully until they got on the plane at the end of Transition. I think it might be easier to share a bed when you know exactly where you stand with the other person. But they never did, I don't think.
