Quaggy, sorry for cluttering your journal with this but I don't know if it is a technical problem on your side, my side, or livejournal but you are no longer showing up as a mutual friend on my profile page. I know I have you friended and you had friended me back unless you had defriended me for some reason (I hope not). I just want to get this problem resolved ASAP for my own sanity.:) Thanks.
Also, I just want to let you know that thanks to your strong recommendation of My Boys I started watching it over the summer and I got instantly hooked! Can't wait until next season! They are evil bastards indeed.:)
Kassie, I did indeed defriend you. It was no way meant a slight or an insult. Frankly, I didn't even think you would notice.
There are a two things that you first have to understand: 1) I check my flist a LOT. It’s my way of keeping up with what my friends post. I check it a couple times a day… sometimes more. 2) I am completely not political. I don't identify with the Democrats or the Republicans. I'm somewhere in the middle. I guess you could say that I’m civic minded, as apposed to politically motivated.
Generally, when you posted something, I just skimmed over it, because politics don’t interest me. But on September 11, you posted something I couldn’t just ignore.
I’m going to ask you to step into my shoes for a second…
I have lived in DC for nearly seven years. I was one of those lowly government employees who made her way to work on September 12, 2001, knowing that it was almost an act of defiance. Everyday, I either enter, pass by or ride on a potential terrorist target. And you know what? It’s not big deal. This is my life and when you add it all up, it’s so worth it.
Now go back and read that last line of your September 11 post. Do you understand how that line could sound glib… even callous to my ears and how the whole thing, posted on that day of all days, could have upset me. It’s your LJ. You have every right to post what you want. But I don’t have to read it. And, at least for a little while, I’d rather not.
Quaggy, I truly did not mean to offend you. I probably could have use a better choice of words to get my point across. Trust me, I am not glib or callous about that dreadful day because I had a close cousin of mine who worked in the wing of the Pentagon that got hit that miraculously was not there because she was out at a meeting at Fort Meade that morning. She was like you defiantly making her way back to work on September 12th. I was in no way trying to degrade your experience because I have someone in my extended family who went through and is going through the very same thing you are. I'm very sorry if I cause you undue pain or brought back painful memories. I can assure you that I was not trying to do that with my post I was just trying to express my personal opinion which apparently I did a poor job of. Again, I'm very sorry.
I know you weren't trying to offend. That's why I never said anything about your timing or your content. Like I said, it was you LJ. You have every right to post whatever you like. I was never personally mad at you. I just decided that I needed a little space from the political posts. Like I said, I honestly didn't think you would even notice. As of right now, the only difference is what is appearing on my flist. I'm not really posting anything that's friend-locked. If I do, I'll refriend.
