As promised, an all-Sorkin drabble post. A couple of Sports Night and a couple West Wing.


Title: An Exchange of Not-So-Pleasantries

Notes: Set right after the series finale. I'm not sure if it's much of a conversation. Rebecca doesn't seem to get a word in edgewise.


"So you're back from California."

"Yes."

"And we're not going to LA."

"No, apparently not."

"Funny if that had happened, don't you think? You come all the way back here, only now Danny's the one out there."

"Look―"

"No, you look. I liked you. But the way you left? You couldn't have hurt him more if you tried, you hypocrite. So while Dan may have forgiven you, you are still on notice with the rest of us. You got that?"

"Sure."

"And a bit of advice... If you think I'm upset, stay out of Casey's way for the next decade."

Sam repeatedly tells me that I have a perfectly good desk and I should try writing at it from time to time. But it just doesn't work for me. Besides there are advantages to sitting on the ground... Like those pair of legs coming my way. Wait... those shoes are familiar. Is that Donna? .....No, thank god. It's only Congresswoman Wyatt. I can look without worrying that Josh's going to kill me.

You know, if this whole politics thing falls though, maybe I should look into shoe design. Bet nobody cares if Jimmy Choo's the one looking at your legs.




Title: She's On The Way

Notes: I think I was a little too influenced by the Expecting/Foundling Universe I created. Even though James is the oldest, Mary was the first one adopted. She was 18 months old.


"Donna, where's she going to sleep?"

"In her room, I imagine."

"No, I mean, do we need to get her a crib? Can she sleep in a real bed?"

"I don't know. I'll check the book."

"Because she's almost two."

"I know, Josh."

"Even if we get a crib, it's not like she'll be in it for much longer."

"Josh, I said I'd check the book."

"Right...... Do you think we have enough clothes?"

"Between what we've bought, your mom bought and the hand-me-downs from CJ, I think we're safe."

".......Donna?"

"Yeah?"

"We're going to be parents."

"I know, Josh."

Yeah, first (and probably only) time I've ever written a somewhat slashy. :-) I have a couple of ideas still floating around in my brain, but they're more of the angsty variety.

Oh don't worry, that barely touches slash with a pinky finger. :-) I just love how they love each other. There's plenty of angles to take, and the platonic one is still very, very good. After all, male friendship (as opposed to beer-drinking buddies) is something that Sorkin excels at. (I ran across an essay through my flist regarding friend-ship, specifically of the House/Wilson variety, but it could apply much more generally. It was really rather nice.)

Yeah, the Casey/Danny loyalty is a sweet thing to watch. That's why it surfaced in the Dana/Rebecca drabble without me really intending it too.

I think friend-ships, no matter what the gender, are powerful and very sweet. Maybe it's the influence of the SITC girls, but there seems to be an increase in really close and loyal female best friends (or at least there are according to my mom, who pays more attention to things like that). Even on Ugly Betty, though I hope that someday they'll wind up together, I really just dig watching their friendship grow and deepen rather than follow any of their romantic pairings.
